Here’s My Heart...

WE CAN’T HELP IT! It is inherently a part of us that when we talk about a new year, our minds immediately go to “futuristic” thoughts. That always leads us to ask what are, sometimes, unanswerable questions.

WHAT WILL THIS NEW YEAR HOLD FOR ME? We don’t know, nor can we accurately predict.

WHAT DOES THE NEW YEAR HOLD FOR MY FAMILY? We don’t know that, either.

WILL MY HEALTH TAKE A “BACK-SET”? OR, WILL IT IMPROVE? Once again, don’t know.

WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN OUR CHURCH? Same answer.

PSYCHOLOGISTS TELL US we all have these fears of the future, and that our greatest fears are about the unknown. That’s probably true, at least it is with me.

HOWEVER, 2008 IS COMING, ready or not. And, what we DO have, in the midst of how fears and unanswerable questions, is the assurance that, while we may not know exactly what the future holds, we can know exactly WHO holds the future.

SOMEONE MADE ME a beautiful little sign that I have hanging on the wall in my office. I have it in a place where I see it every morning when I come to work. It simply says, “Good morning, this is God! I will be handling all your problems today. I will not need your help. So, have a good day!”

I HAVE DETERMINED to let that be my New Year’s Resolution for 2008. Each day is in His control, not mine. I want my schedule to become His schedule. After all, sometimes He does have to remind me, “Hey Jim, I am God...and YOU are not!”A “hard pill”to swallow sometimes? Sure. But, it’s true; always true.

ANITA AND I wish you a Very Happy New Year.

Brother Jim
