Dixie Lee Baptist Church

May, 2002

From My Heart...

The month of May is one of the busiest months of the year at DLBC, in special activities and recognitions. Here are just a few of the things we will give special emphasis to this month.

On May 5th we will honor our senior adults as we join with churches all across the Southern Baptist Convention in observance of Senior Adult Day. All senior adults will be recognized in both Morning Worship Services, and our Special Events Committee has planned a luncheon honoring our senior adults, beginning at 12:15 p.m. Anita and I, as well as the church staff and their spouses, look forward to sharing this time with this special group in our church.

On May 12th we will observe Mother's Day, and what a special day it will be! All mothers will be recognized in both Morning Worship Services, and gifts will be given in both services to the Newest Mother Present and the Oldest Mother Present. In the 11:00 a.m. service, we will have our Annual Parent/Child Dedication Service. And, we will join with churches across the Tennessee Baptist Convention in receiving our special offering for the Tennessee Baptist Children's Homes.

On May 19th we will honor our high school graduating seniors, recognizing them in the 11:00 a.m. service, presenting them with a special gift from our church, and hosting them and their parents with a luncheon following the worship service.

On May 26th, the day before Memorial Day, we will pause in both Morning Worship Services to remember those who gave their lives in military service defending the freedoms of our great nation. In addition, we will be taking a one-time offering to help with the costs for renovating the offices of our Loudon County Association of Baptists. This decision was made at our last business meeting, and I hope you are praying about what you will be give to see these much-needed improvements come to pass.

Whew!!! I am a little tired just thinking about all that is ahead of us. But, I am so glad to be part of an active, caring, loving, patriotic, recognizing, worshipping church. Aren't you?

God bless you. And, for our "guests" who will read this, thanks for visiting our web site. We welcome you to visit with us any Sunday. We believe you will find friendly smiles, warm hearts, and an atmosphere of worship and praise to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Sincerely,
Jim Clayton, Senior Pastor
