June, 2007 Here’s My Heart... A BUSY SUMMER is on my
heart as I write this article. There will be Vacation Bible School,
camps, the Southern Baptist Convention, vacations, BUT THEN, summers are busy for all of us, aren't they? Our children, grandchildren, and (for some of us) our spouses are out of school, getting summer jobs, going to the pool, playing baseball, softball, soccer, and we find ourselves constantly on the move. WITH THAT IN MIND, let me encourage you about C-H-U-R-C-H this summer. Yep, we plan to meet for Bible Study, Worship, and Outreach EACH WEEK for the entire summer! Imagine that. And, the work of the Kingdom will continue, even during these busy summer months. I WANT TO ENCOURAGE YOU to take those vacations, spend quality time with your family, and enjoy the beautiful (and long) days of summer. I don't expect to see everyone every week, and I'm sure I won't. All of us need time to be away, to be "refreshed", to well, "vacate"! Just not EVERY week. LET ME ALSO ENCOURAGE YOU, however, when you are at home, don't forget about church. Each summer I hope for a "Summer HUMP", instead of a "Summer SLUMP". Let's turn it all around this summer. Oh yes, and don't forget that the FINANCIAL obligations of the church continue, even during the summer months. That's right, they really do. So, even while we are away, THE TITHE is still the Lord's. I know we will do the right thing in that regard. HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER, and I will see you as often as possible. Blessings. -Brother Jim |
