Here's My Heart...

Nobody can say it better than the Psalmist. In Psalm 33:12, he says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is THE LORD...".

Does that leave open the possibility that a nation can have more than one god, and that the god of that nation may (or may not) be THE LORD? It sure does.

It would be hard to disagree that America has been, and continues to be, a blessed nation. How would we even begin to list, much less describe the blessings of living in America? I certainly don't have the vocabulary, nor the intellect to do that. To even try would be futile on my part. But, did you really notice the nation God promises to bless?

It is not the nation whose god is...SPORTS.

It is not the nation whose god is...MONEY.

It is not the nation whose god is...IMMORALITY.

It is not the nation whose god is...LEISURE.

It is not even the nation ,whose god is RELIGION.

No, the nation is blessed whose God is THE LORD.

This month we will celebrate the birthday of our nation. We call it Independence Day, or simply "The Fourth Of July". Are you a blessed person today? I am sure you are. Are we a blessed nation? Without a doubt. But, I would ask, is GOD, the almighty, powerful, holy, righteous, patient GOD of the universe, LORD of your life? If He is, then my friend...your are truly blessed!

Happy Birthday, America! May we always keep GOD as THE LORD of our nation! And, May God continue to bless America!
