Here's My Heart...

CONSISTENT CHURCH ATTENDANCE is on my heart this month (as it almost always is). As most of you know, I recently had some "extensive" oral surgery, which turned out to be a bit more "extensive" than I had originally thought! As a result, I had to miss a Sunday at church. It was, without a doubt, one of the l-o-n-g-e-s-t days of my life.

Sometime on that Sunday evening, after Anita had gotten home from Evening Worship, I asked her the "weighty" question of the day: "Sweetheart, just what do people who don't go to church do on Sunday?" She couldn't answer, of course, but it sure did prompt some interesting discussion.

So, what do people do who don't go to church on a regular basis? I know the "usual" answers. Some sleep in, others work in their yard, and others make visits to their family. Some catch up on the latest news, or go on a picnic, or to the lake, or to the golf course. Some have children involved in sports, so they spend the day at a sports facility somewhere. And some, well, they just stay at home and do nothing!

Wow! And, do you know what troubles me most? So far, I have named the things that just "professing believers" often do! What about unbelievers? So, I decided that it's just possible what unbelievers do is watch their "professing believer neighbors" to see what they do on Sunday! B:mmmmm!

Oh well, just some "food for thought". As this busy summer winds down, school begins again, and things take on a bit of a slower pace, let me ask you, "Now, how will you spend your Sundays?" Three words some to mind that I'd like you to ponder in the days and weeks to come:

Hope to see you again soon...on a regular basis!
