It's On My Heart...

Some call October the most beautiful month of the year. In east Tennessee, that statement certainly has merit. Already the leaves are changing color and the mountains are taking on a majestic look that almost defies description. One can certainly get a greater appreciation for the words of the Psalmist when, over and over, he commented on the "handiwork of God" in the forming of the mountains. I am always in awe of His glory, reflected in His creation. And, I am so thankful to live in this area of wonder and beauty.

October is also the month of our long-anticipated medical missions trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Anita, Roger, Deb, and I will leave on Friday, October 11th, and return on Sunday morning, October 20th. We covet your prayers for the success of this trip, for God's protection as we travel and for those we will leave behind, and for many, many lost souls to come into the Kingdom of God as a result of our witness. This church has been so supportive, not only of this trip, but of M-I-S-S-I-O-N-S...period. What an honor to be the pastor of a church that looks beyond it's boundaries, is willing to step out of it's "comfort zone", and carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ (literally) to the "uttermost part of the world". We will do our very best to represent this church, and the Lord Jesus, in an appropriate way.

Looking at the church calendar for October, you would almost think it was June or July, two of the busiest months of the year. So much is going on, touching every age group in our church. I appreciate so much all that Roger, Lee, the Family Life Center Committee, and the Children's Planning Committee are doing to plan and promote family "things" that center around the church. I hope you and your family will avail yourselves to these activities, while inviting someone to come with you. I truly want Dixie Lee Baptist Church to become "THE Place To Be In 2003". It CAN be that place.

God bless you.
