October, 2004 Here's My Heart... "Building Together...One Heart At A Time" is on my heart right now. When the theme for our building program and our stewardship campaign was presented to me, I said then, "Now this says it all!" "Building" is what the body of Christ is all about. But, it's so much more than wood, mortar, concrete, and a "structure" we can see. It's about building the kingdom of God, building lives, character, and touching a community. Yet, in order to do that, sometimes we need to look at our facilities in light of where we believe God is taking us. And sometimes, that will mean the need to build a building. "Building Together" means we do it as a family, as a body of believers, all headed in the same direction, with the same goals, hearts, and desires. You see, you won't find any "Lone Ranger Christians" in the New Testament. When God blessed the early church, it was because they did things together. And, if God is to bless our church, it will be because we, too, will build together. "Building Together...One Heart At A Time", then, means as individual believers, we each examine our own lives, looking deep into our own hearts, and we ask God to give us a desire to join with other believers in this process of building. And, it's amazing how God does this, even through the building of a building. In the Bible, He took the process of "construction", and through that, and the giving of His people, He built His kingdom, He built lives, character, and He built the church. Before the month of October ends, we will have seen where we are in the stewardship part of our building together. And, if it happens as we are praying and believing it will, do you know how it will happen? That's right... one heart at a time! God bless you. -Jim Clayton |
