Other Church Ministries

Dixie Lee offers numerous opportunities for ministry and service both within as well as outside the church. Just a few of those include:

Intercessory Prayer

Prayer is a vital element of the life and ministry of Dixie Lee Baptist Church. Prayer is so important that God's Word encourages us to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). In obedience to this call to prayer, our church offers several opportunities to gather each week with other believers for united prayer.

Wednesday during the midweek service and Sunday during the evening service, intercessory prayer is offered for those in our lives that we feel burdened to pray for. Bible Study classes are also encouraged to maintain an intercessory prayer list that is reviewed each week at the beginning of class.

Prayer chains have been developed as part of the circles in the Baptist Women program to facilitate the requests for prayer as we go about our daily activities. All Bible Study classes are encouraged to insure each class member is participating in a prayer chain so that as specific needs arise, intercessory prayer can be initiated.

Nursing Home Ministry

The church provides a weekly on-site worship service to the residents of the Summit View  Health Care Center on Sunday mornings during the regular Sunday School hour. This hour-long service includes a music program as well as a Sunday School lesson to provide a meaningful worship experience for the residents. Opportunities exists for service in this ministry in the areas of music, teaching, and assisting the residents in getting from their rooms to the service.

Senior Adult Activities

Senior adults age 55 or older are invited to attend a monthly meeting and covered dish luncheon on the 1st Thursday of the month in the Family Life Center at 11:30 a.m. A guest speaker is invited to share with the group each month. In addition to the luncheons, monthly one-day or overnight trips to popular regional destinations are also taken.

Media Center

Our media center, or library, is operated as a self-service facility and has a wide variety of material for circulation, including audio and visual materials. Topics include Christian living, spiritual growth, devotions, and Bible study. Books that provide easy reading for children are also available. Reference books are provided for use in the library area
